Four girls from everywhere.
A school in the middle of somewhere.
A city at the edge of anywhere.
A school story like you'll find nowhere else.

The Extras is a modern take on a classic boarding school story, a slice-of-life comedy / fantasy about the everyday adventures of growing up. Located in the City, the School of Saints Java and Hellbender is as much a character in the story as the girls from almost everywhere who live and learn there, and just as full of secrets.

"Nose paper" is certainly a less boring designation than "facial tissue," anyway.

Yes, Shelby decided to place her finger there. Completely intentional.

I wonder what the City term is for toilet tissue? Hmm...

I feel represented by the "It's true" being included :) It's one of the more informal forms of reacting to a sneeze, somewhere between "Gesundheit" and "Achoo"

Credit to Pam for this week's script, and for finding that fact. We're glad we could represent you! Could you tell us some of the countries where this is a common saying?

I actually only know about Hungary, but it's pretty common here

Do you know what this is? Effective world-building. Tells us a LOT about the society and the characters in a single page. Well done.

And it's about freaking sneezes! But it says a lot about the world and the people.

Exactly! The thing I always tell people is that stories don't have to have world-ending stakes to be interesting. A story doesn't have to go all big and significant. Look at the small things, the odd and the striking and the everyday wonders.

One of my mandates in Gilda And Meek is "The Adventures don't actually matter." It's the characters farting around with each other and having deep conversations about philosophy which is what the story is actually about.

Gilda actually only saves the world twice (and the second time hasn't happened yet). World-shattering stakes only matter if they are rare.

Exactly. Whatever stakes you have, building up to them is important. Having relatable characters that you can root for is paramount. Whether it's a battle for a part in the school play or a battle for the universe, we have to care about the people in the battle.

"Nose paper" makes so much sense! I wonder why that isn't a term used in our world.

The old word for facial tissue in Japanese is actually 鼻紙 ... hanagami, literally "nose paper." But everyone now just says ティッシュ - "tissue." How about in other languages?
If we all start saying "nose paper," maybe it'll catch on.

Okay so I got intrigued by the sig on the forum, blinked and suddenly I binged all the available pages in one go. I am hooked, I am in love with all the main four characters and also Rosalinda, and the journal/interview/lore pages are a great touch. Also watching Nita figure out she's not in Canada was a journey and I am FASCINATED with the way Shelby's brain works. And with the way Patience speaks and navigates this world (what do you mean "after", huh?). Also also I might have turned the page where Chantilly gets the black ring before it fully clicked in my brain and then frantically turned it back like "WAIT I HAVE THAT I SEE YOU", ahah.

Anywho, great work, kudos to the authors, I'm overjoyed that this is the first comic I read on CF <3
