Four girls from everywhere.
A school in the middle of somewhere.
A city at the edge of anywhere.
A school story like you'll find nowhere else.

The Extras is a modern take on a classic boarding school story, a slice-of-life comedy / fantasy about the everyday adventures of growing up. Located in the City, the School of Saints Java and Hellbender is as much a character in the story as the girls from almost everywhere who live and learn there, and just as full of secrets.

We have a bond, folks!

I guess the unanswered question here is- how many times has Shelby tried the slipper flip to get a record of six?

Damn it. Something funky up with the ratings. Five stars isn't available and every time I try to rate it it comes up zero or 1 stars.

We used to play that game with paperclips. If we managed to drop from floor 8 to floor 0, we added another clip to the chain. How did we have the energy to run up 9 floors over and over again?

Ah, the energy of youth...
Paperclips sounds interesting. Did you add a clip to the chain and drop the whole chain, or drop the clips one by one and the chain was kept as a scorecard upstairs?
Clips are light enough that I'm guessing air currents and how you drop them might have a big effect on how they fly. Did you have techniques or strategies? What size paperclips did you use? They must have been pretty tough to see after a certain distance, too. Did you have spotters on lower floors?

We added to the chain. Getting one paperclip to land at zero was easy. A chain of 10 flails around. These were 25-mm long, about? We checked by running down all the flights, since we had to get our clips back to try again.

Very cool. Thanks for the details. I've often thought that if I'd been an anthropologist, I'd study informal games like this- how they are created, how they spread, how rules are agreed upon and how "house rules" differ and evolve.
Please tell me a bit more about your school, too. 9 stories tall? Historic?

It was my father's office building. We would go with him to work on Saturday morning (my two sisters and I), and we pretty much had a ten story building to ourselves.

Ah, I see. Very cool. Adults would just see it as a boring old office building, but for you and your sisters it was a place of adventure!

I have a feeling that whoever is below is not going to wait for the other one to drop.

"Hey! I'm down here waiting for the other slipper to drop... wait, that's a pretty cool saying!"
